Join the Friends of Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge for a lazy paddle down a beautiful river! Since 1998, the Friends have been leading canoe trips on the Rio Grande, which serves as the southern boundary of the Refuge and the international border between Mexico and the United States. On the four-mile paddle you might encounter black-crowned night herons, the three kingfisher species, various hawks, turtles and many other wildlife species that depend on the river.
Bring your binoculars, sun protection, insect repellent and footwear you don't mind getting wet!  Schedule: Depart at 8:00am and return by 12:00noon Cost: $20 per person ($15 for Friends members)with a minimum of four participants required. Other: No experience is necessary. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Canoe trips are regularly scheduled January through March, with occasional trips offered in November and December.
